The Blancpain Endurance Series have started another year on the Italian racetrack of Monza. Miguel Toril, along with his teammates Oliver Morley and Manuel Metzger, has started -analogously- a new year competing for the PRO-AM category aboard the Mercedes AMG GT GT3 from Team Black Falcon.
After a satisfying day on Saturday, while competing in free practice, Manuel Metzger, in charge of qualifying the car during Q3, placed the team in the 8th place PRO-AM and 30th overall, at the beginning of the day of Sunday.
Starting from these positions, Miguel Toril was in charge of commanding the car during the difficult start of the race. An accident on the same start-finish line, from which Miguel managed to escape almost undamaged, forced to stop the race with red flag, restarting a few minutes later. From this point, Miguel managed to climb some positions getting to shoot in 5th place of the PRO-AM.
Oliver Morley would continue the work and later it would be Manuel Metzger who would take the controls of the AMG GT GT3. Unfortunately, in the final stages of the race, Metzger would suffer from some technical issues that would only allow him to cross the finish line in 7th place PRO-AM and 19th of the overall.
Miguel Toril: "Despite what it may seem, it has been a complex race. In the beginning I had a mixture of luck and skill to avoid the accident. Subsequently, it seemed that we would be able to fight for the TOP5 of the category and eventually touch the podium, but the technical part has not accompanied us. In any case, we have finished the race in the points and that is one of the vital objectives for the whole championship. I thank the whole team for the tremendous effort. See you at Silverstone."
