After the 5th place finish at the Nürburgring, Miguel Toril ends the Pro-Am Cup of the Blancpain Endurance Series in third position.
Final race of the BES 2016 took place last weekend at the historic racetrack of Nürburgring. Following the season plan, Maro Engel, Oliver Morley and Miguel Toril teamed aboard the Mercedes AMG GT3 #56 of the local team Black Falcon for this final performance.
After a positive Saturday, Sunday competition began with the track blocked by the usual fog, which forced to cancel Q1 and Q2. Only Maro Engel could go out on track during Q3, having to take responsibility for the qualification of the team. Full of incidents, Q3 would also be interrupted at the moment when Maro was driving his fastest lap. The team would have to start the race on 28th place overall and 9th Pro-Am, far from the deserved place.
For the start and the first race stint, Miguel would again be in charge of driving the AMG GT. After the first laps with several incidents, the pace would stabilize, the progression would be constant and with successive stints from Oliver and Maro, the team crossed the finish line in 21st place overall and 5th Pro-Am. With this result, Morley and Toril finish the championship on 3rd position of the Pro-Am Cup.
Miguel Toril: "After some setbacks, we were able to climb to a position much closer to our real performance. While the Spa race completely limited our choices to win the championship, I feel satisfied to be at least on the final podium. As every time a season finishes, now it is time to rest, to recharge the batteries and to be prepared for what the new year will provide; not without first thanking the hard work that all members of Black Falcon have done this year to allow us to drive a great car, the support of my teammates, the sponsors and the enthusiasm of family and friends at all times”.
