The team Black Falcon completes 24 hours of Spa far from the deserved positions.

24 hours of Spa 2016 represented not only the most important race of the year, but the fourth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Among the 3 cars lined up by Black Falcon, Miguel Toril was part of the usual #56 of the PRO-AM category again with his teammate Oliver Morley and this time with another Spanish company, Daniel Juncadella and the Saudi Abdulaziz Al Faisal.

The qualifying session on Thursday and the subsequent Super Pole session on Friday left the #56 team in sixth place overall and first in the PRO-AM. Unfortunately, on Saturday morning the organization decided to impose a series of sanctions on the Mercedes teams, which first delayed the starting position of Toril’s car to 14th place on the grid. Additionally, Mercedes AMG GT teams had to accomplish a penalty of 5 minutes in the pit during the early stages of the race.

Once the competition started promptly at 16.30 on Saturday and having fulfilled the stipulated penalty, Juncadella, who had taken the start was in the 65th position, 3 laps down to the leader. The rest of the race was not better for the team Black Falcon; a multitude of problems, penalties and track incidents, limited every chance of a good result, preventing to show the great work done by all the team drivers. The final position after crossing the finish line on Sunday is summed up in 26th place overall and 9th in the PRO-AM.

Miguel Toril: "Without a doubt, the hardest race of the year and possibly of my sports career. Starting from the policy decisions that I will not comment, the sanction that left us 3 laps behind the overall leader and our class leader has limited us tremendously in our work for a great result. But besides that, we suffered a host of many circumstances that have ended up destroying a good possible outcome. Unfortunately for us, this race had an important weight in the scoring championship and the bad result prevents us from fighting for the first and second place in the PRO-AM category. It is time to rest and reflect; I thank my team Black Falcon and my teammates for the tremendous effort they have done and regret not been able to receive the reward that they also deserve."
